APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE OCEAN IMPACT ACCELERATOR PROGRAM 2023

Press release
Sydney, 07 February 2023

 Calling Ocean Impact Innovators!

Australia’s Ocean Impact Organisation (OIO) has today opened applications to the Ocean Impact Accelerator Program (OIAP) 2023, and is seeking ten “game-changing” startups working on solutions to improve ocean health to join the six-month program.

Startups across the Pacific Rim (San Francisco to Singapore timezones) that are working on solutions to a diverse range of ocean challenges are encouraged to apply. Successful startups will receive guaranteed investment; access to active ocean impact investors; dedicated mentors; and participation in a six-month virtual program, including masterclasses with key industry figures.

Each of the ten startups will receive ~$100k investment to participate in the program, which will culminate in a live pitch on stage at OIO’s INNOVOCEAN event in Sydney on 22 November 2023.

The announcement of the 2023 applications comes after the success of the 2022 program where six startups from four countries (Mayani, The Philippines; Nuvoe, Australia; RiverRecycle, Finland; Saathi, India; Skyology, USA; Uuvipak, Australia) made big strides towards their respective goals. CEO and Co-founder of Ocean Impact Organisation Nick Chiarelli said, “I’m thrilled to announce the return of The Ocean Impact Accelerator Program for 2023. We were blown away by the quality and commitment of the cohort in 2022 and cannot wait to meet the innovative entrepreneurs seeking entry into the program this year”.

The Ocean Impact Accelerator Program is OIO’s flagship program, providing the best ocean impact startups with the support they need to reach their potential. The program is industry and technology agnostic, meaning startup solutions may be addressing diverse challenges, from climate change; plastic pollution; fisheries and aquaculture; ocean data and monitoring; decarbonisation; robotics; seaweed and many other areas.
